New wine in old magnets

We’ve seen one guy selling magnets he alleges will make you younger. Now here we go with magnets that are claimed to make your wine older.

The Wine Clip (according to their website) uses principles of magnetism to improve the taste of wine. The effect is said to be instantaneous, with improvement in flavor and mouthfeel, especially when used on red wines.

And they’re not the only ones using magnets to age your wine. The Wine Cellar Express described as a “time machine for wine”, is actually a coaster containing magnets.

The Wine Cellar Express dramatically reduces the harsh, bitter tannins generally present in young red wines. The magnetic field "softens" or reduces these tannins in much the same way that aging a wine for several years would eventually accomplish. Only now, utilizing only the coaster, what took years, takes only 15 to 30 minutes. (From their press release).

Perhaps it might be a good idea to leave a violin in an MRI machine for a couple of days.

Secret Nazi magnet machine

A rather intriguing declassified 1946 British Intelligence report draws the following conclusions about Hans Coler's Stromzeuger, a magnetism based energy "producing" apparatus.

The project was reportedly supported by Hitler's Admiralty. A diagram from the report follows

Report conclusions:

1. It was judged that Coler was an honest experimenter and not a fraud, and due respect must be paid to the judgment of Frohlich in the matter as deduced from his report to Seysen.

2. The result obtained was genuine in so far as could be tested with the facilities available, but no attempt has yet been made to find an explanation for the phenomenon.

3. It is felt that further investigation by an expert in electromagnetic theory is warranted, and that Coler’s offer to construct a model of the "Stromzeuger" should be taken up.

The department of...

This organization was founded in 1904 to map the geomagnetic field of our giant magnet of a planet, earth.

By 1929 members had traveled the world to collect data in a ship constructed largely of non-magnetic materials.

In 1925 this organization also launch a project to prove the existence of the ionosphere.

It also was responsible for putting the proximity fuse into production in WWII.

Today they do things like, oh, discovering planets outside our solar system, determining the age and structure of the universe, and studying the causes of earthquakes and volcanoes.

Who are they?

The Department of Terrestrial Magnetism of course.
